Free tuition of 2 weeks or DL for 2 weeks or still have to pay tuition for 2 weeks.

The center needs the revenue to continue operating. They need money to cover their rent, the teachers need money to cover their rent and food. The alternative is for the center to shut down permanently.

Holy crap, so if this happens twice a month, that's two weeks out of the monthly tuition they spent. All the other parents left without care or having to incur extra $ for sitters would not be too pleased.

We had a case in a teacher. The classroom of that teacher closed for 2 weeks. The other classes remained open. There were no additional cases and they reopened the classroom as normal.

The child’s classroom closed for 14 days. Those teachers stayed home until cleared by a doctor: one doctor didn’t recommend testing, one doctor recommended 2 tests a week apart. Children followed their pediatricians’ advice. Some were tested and others weren’t. The classroom opened after 14 days, and that was 14 days after the positive child was last present.

Interestingly, DC Health did not recommend that the child’s sibling’s classroom be closed, just that the sibling quarantine (sibling was not tested).

No other cases stemmed from that one.

That's great!

Nothing. The self quarantine is a joke.

Our center had a confirmed case of a teacher today. They will close the school over the weekend and all the kids in that class will have to self quarantine. I think they will open other classrooms though. It’s awful.

For our center, the affected teacher and class get quarantined for 2 weeks while they get tested.

They also notify every parent. So far, we have had 2 known exposures:

1. A family member of a teacher. The teacher was not positive. This was back in April.

2. A part-time teacher who had contact with a full-time teacher. This was this week. The affected teachers and kids are being tested and quarantined for 14 days, even if the tests come back negative.

Considering the center has been open the entire time, one primary exposure and one secondary exposure isn’t bad.

Are they doing pods? At our center, the pod and teacher get quarantined for 2 weeks. then everyone gets tested then come back.

This is a little different than your question, but I thought might be helpful to share. Our center has not had a case at the center (as far as I know), but we notified them and stayed home for a time after contact with a (non-household) family member whose symptoms began a couple days after we saw them and who tested positive a week or so after. There was no class-wide or center-wide communication about why we were staying home (unless they sent it to everyone but me), and no closings or anything. They did not require any of us in the household to get tested to come back -- just excluded us until two weeks after our contact with the person. I got a test from my doctor and it came back negative at the very end of our exclusion period, otherwise I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable returning.

It raises some concerns for me that they don't require testing after contact with a known positive and that they didn't notify other families (who could then be extra vigilant for symptoms), but maybe it was because of the timing of things -- I don't know if the exclusion/actions would have been different if we had been in contact while the person was exhibiting symptoms, for example, or if any of us in the household had ever exhibited symptoms (we never did, and the daycare was aware of that).

Our daycare had a case. They are closing for 14 days under recommendation of the VA Health Department.

I am supposed staff will get paid during the 14 days quarantine. How about to those affected kids (the whole class) that is subject to 14 days quarantine because either a staff/a kid test positive on covid? Free tuition of 2 weeks or DL for 2 weeks or still have to pay tuition for 2 weeks.

What does your daycare center do when there's a kid/kid's immediate families, or staff/staff families get positive on covid19?
Who will need to stay out from daycare for at least14 days quarantines or who is required to subject to get a covid test before they can come back to school? We are talking about 14 rooms of kids here.
Any daycare policies change after the 1st case is found at daycare?

We just get a new case, and I want to see if what they do is enough. Thanks!
