The child’s classroom closed for 14 days. Those teachers stayed home until cleared by a doctor: one doctor didn’t recommend testing, one doctor recommended 2 tests a week apart. Children followed their pediatricians’ advice. Some were tested and others weren’t. The classroom opened after 14 days, and that was 14 days after the positive child was last present.
Interestingly, DC Health did not recommend that the child’s sibling’s classroom be closed, just that the sibling quarantine (sibling was not tested).
No other cases stemmed from that one.
