Try Annapolis.

How will you get to NOMA when you go to the office? Metro? Drive?

Hyattsville or Mt Rainier can be charming and cute and if you can drive I'd look there. You can find a cute house for your budget...but no idea how big of a house you're looking for.

Do you have school aged children in public school?

If so University Park is probably your best bet.

Your $550K budget will stretch in Hyattsville or CP. IMHO they’re undervalued.

Silver Spring to NOMA would be a nice red line commute, but you will have to look past the beltway with your budget. Or settle for a TH.

Thank you. How long does it take during normal times? And is there a non-driving way to commute in? I will probably prefer to drive for a while but after the pandemic ends, I will want to take the train again.

This is OP. Oh well on College Park being like Charlottesville. I’m not in the area right now so I can’t easily go check it out. I will come into town to look for houses.

Budget is $500 or $550K and commute to NOMA.

How do you know all Maryland drivers are from Maryland? where are YOU from that makes you superior?

College park is not like Charlottesville. College park campus has very little charm, I'm afraid. Because it is Prince George's county you homes are cheaper but, you get what you pay for Then again, Montgomery county schools aren't that great either. More important issue is your budget and where you work.

Someone needs to do alot more homework! College Park is nothing like Cville, and there are lots of better places to live in MD than the three you've mentioned.

I live in College Park and love it, and I’ve never been to Charlottesville but I can say college park doesn’t have the traditional college town feel that I’ve seen in other places. That said, it’s a great place to live.

I’ve lived in both (Arlington and Chevy Chase) and greatly prefer MD.

What is your budget?

I went to UVA and live on the Rt1 Corridor and love it. But College Park is nothing like Cville.

College Park is not a college town like Charlottesville. But there are pockets that you may like.

My commute will be so much better, and I can get more house for the money. So Silver Spring, College Park, or Hyattsville? I like the idea of a college town (I went to UVA and loved Charlottesville) but I have no idea if College Park is like Cville. I want family friendly and safe.
