I'm more scared of small, ahole high energy jumping and bitey dogs, rather than big dopey ones.

If you own a smaller dog (I have a beagle) they may be shy and a bit scared around big dogs. I am not scared of big dogs, I find them to be goofy and sweet in general, but my dog is very hesitant to play with them because dogs jump on each other and it seems to frighten her.

Owner of two St. Bernards here. Not scared of them (typical gentle giants) but you do have to be sensitive to their sheer size. Think of glasses being swept off the coffee table with swipe of a tail, super excited greets at the door when you come home (130 lbs paws stepping on your bare feet = not fun), paw handshakes from a rambunctious 1 year old who’s not quite coordinated yet, etc and you get the picture.

Little dogs are like little people, always have something to prove.

I trusted my 150 lbs dog more than my current 70 lbs dog. But still getting to know the smaller dog.

No, but I have labs and they've never shown any aggression towards people at all.

No - if I was, I would have to rehome the dog. I can't live with a dog that I am afraid of.

You don't put pitbulls in the second group?

He made me nervous when I first got him because I didn’t know him or trust him. But now I trust him so he doesn’t scare me.

Same. I trust bigger dogs more and find them generally calmer. Caveat: Unless they were specifically raised to be guard dogs or otherwise aggressive.

Mine? No. My in laws’? Yes. He is a resource guarder and guards food, toys, people, furniture. I never know what is “his” at that moment. I will not allow my preschoolers to visit when he is loose.
