Frederick County will remediate to Tier 2. They are the kindest to dyslexics in the region. They pay for their teachers to attend ASDEC training. Avoid all others - particularly MCPS... they are bandits who use the OG language to gaslight parents...Frederick is the closest to what you are looking for short of private school. Private placement will be hard - statewide. Comes down to judges not being educated on this issue.

Anne Arundel County is not going to do a great job with dyslexia- but most of the area school systems are the same in not being able to serve dyslexic students. AA County is smaller and there are pockets of good schools so you will have that advantage.

This is a hard time to be the parent of a child with dyslexia.

Try look for Maryland or DC Facebook groups. Have you joined say dyslexia dc? Or say dyslexia md. Ask this question there as well. Hopefully get some good ideas! As a teacher and dyslexia advocate ,I really wish you didn’t have to consider this (all schools should have what you need) but I know a school needs to fully “get it” when it comes to dyslexia.

Dcps hugely cut back on lab and other private placement around 2014. The threshold now is very different - showing the system and school can’t meet needs and your child is essentially failing despite their supports. It’s not the old days of hiring a lawyer and getting placement paid

OP what supports did DCPS give? Have you looked at Frederick County?

Accommodations like extended time for tests, use of technology, etc.

Pull-out 5x a week (45 minutes each day) for one-on-one instruction in reading/writing.

my DD is in 5th grade and we're in MoCo, so I can't comment on the MS "experience", but from what I've experienced... support from MCPS is abysmal. I would do a hard target search on SN schools in the area some schools in Annandale, silver spring and a slew in and around Baltimore. Before you move to DC or Baltimore or wherever you move.... I would do a targeted visit to each of these schools. See which one jiives with your kiddo and which ones will accept your child (competition is TOUGH in the DC area). Then I would move near the school you chose.

We are researching a move from DC and are considering moving east. Our DD is dyslexic and has an IEP. We're looking for a county/schools that are supportive of students with learning disabilities and don't deny services, despite the obvious need for them. We've pretty much ruled out Montgomery County due to the negative feedback we've received from friends and even teachers who work for MCPS.

If you have any experience managing this challenge for your own child, would you please share whatever knowledge and information you have? DD will likely need an IEP for a MS, and by HS, she'll likely switch to a 504 plan.
