If public schools cannot educate the children, why parents pay tax to support public schools?

Conservative leaning moderate here - they have been trying to do this for ages. Did you not know that? If you didn't, the reason is because it's never gotten any traction.

Yes, I realize it was a fringe movement before...but now it’s becoming more mainstream.

what do you expect? Look at how furious people are with schools going virtual with privates attempting in person. Do you think sorry your middle class, your kids don't get an education is going to go over well?

A tax credit could be the difference between staying in public school and going to a good private. I can't afford 20k for a private school, but with a 10k tax credit, I could. The good privates around her price out almost anyone below upper middle class, but there's a large cohort making 100-200k a year that could probably swing 10-15k in tuition for multiple kids

Are you always played that easily?

Both sides are trying to play it to their advantage at the expense of the general public. Let’s not pretend this is one sided.

I have not heard of that, but to be honest we are new to the school system and NOW I understand the push for vouchers. If public school can’t educate our kids, let the private schools do it. Let the money follow the student.

Not sure where to post this, but has anyone heard of this group, Public School Exit?

https://www.publicschoolexit.com/

“The mission of Public School Exit is to facilitate an exodus of American children and families from government-controlled education by educating the public and helping families. We are more than an organization, we are a movement.“

I think public schools have gone down the tubes — but I want to improve them, not ruin them. This is sinister!
