Aha, I wonder if that is the case for ours. I wish they would still provide lunch, it was just easier and DS would eat whatever he was served. Now every day he’s whining about what I sent and then f it were up to him would get sunbutter/jelly sandwiches every day with a “treat.”

Both of our Silver Spring centers used to serve lunch and don't anymore for health reasons.

And of course centers are raising prices, given the capacity restrictions and other changes they've had to make due to the pandemic. I'm surprised places aren't raising prices way more than they are, honestly.

What did they say to you when you asked about the change in lunch?

Under DC guidelines, Centers are not allowed to serve food family style. Most catering companies that service preschools and day care centers bring the food in large bins and it is divided up and served family style. Food that is cooked on-site is also served family style. So DC programs should not be serving lunches family style.

BCDS does not cater. They cook onsite. I'm paying over 1800$ a month and not getting lunch. I chose this school because they serve lunch. If they're not going to do that anymore, then don't make me pay for it! I don't think they are at capacity even with the new laws.

Wow you’re cheap

I like the convenience of them providing lunch. Other places around here don't provide lunch and are cheaper. I went with the more expensive school b/c they served lunch. So no, I'm not cheap, and I'm certainly not loaded especially with the lack in business for me.

Yes, our home daycare still is. Hot breakfast and lunch cooked onsite, and afternoon snack.

Yes , I think they prefer to serve it there and for us to pay for lunch because they can control what’s in it (no allergens) and make sure it’s all on paper plates, etc to meet guidelines. The lunches are very nice and healthy and kid eats everything so I have complaints.

If your daycare previously served lunch, are they still doing it due to Covid? Mine stopped serving lunch AND increased the prices 5% (Bethesda Country Day).
