Are any DD 21s out there getting offers? Good point about studs versus duds, but how about the below studs but still good level? ECNL/GA level players? Coaches’ deadlines for using an admissions slot are coming up so it would seem if 21s are gonna get offers they’re gonna get them soon. It’s one of those things that sideline parents don’t seem to talk about and so a topic that is really useful to discuss on an anonymous board. And it would be good to hear about 22s too. Some of them, the studs, maybe getting offers as well.

Not all seniors who get an extra year of eligibility will choose to stay, for many reasons- but a big one being having to pay for another year of college.

Some schools like UNC get lucky where Roy Williams (bball coach) is paying/making a donation to help all seniors pay for another year of college so they can play..... but im sure also to help them win a title with kids who have one more year of maturity and development under their belt.

Are you people brain dead? Stanford already showed you even schools like Stanford are aligning their budgets to reality. Given the weak economy and cost of running schools under COVID, tuition will not be able to continue covering athletic costs. Schools were already begging the NCAA for relief from the number of sports they have to carry.

If Football and B-ball is cancelled, it's a wrap outside of Power-5. Anyone denying the above DOESN'T have a clue of how college sports work. Students aren't going to fund college sports out of tuition.

I cant imagine schools eliminating their soccer programs is helping

they said DD. Something has to offset football for title IX.

True. If a school takes public tax money (and almost all do) and gives dollars to males to play football and they do not have a female football program to match that...they have to match those dollars with other female sports.

It is not too difficult to understand that if football is cancelled, college sports is at risk of ending as we know it.

Please stop. You’re clueless.

canceled or not, football is still spending money and handing out scholarships. That money and those scholarships have to be balanced and women's soccer is one of the ways they get balanced.

College sports is not at risk of ending as we know it. The vast majority of colleges do not have a DI football or basketball team that makes big dollars for the school or athletic program. That is true for many DI colleges and every single DI-AA, DII and DIII school, whose athletic departments are nothing but an expense for the school. No sports for a year will save those schools money.

No DI football or basketball for the Power 5 will have an impact on those schools and their athletic departments, and that is why you are seeing ideas about pushing major college football back to spring if it cannot be played this fall.

These are generalizations since there is a huge variety between schools and players. Obviously it's going to be different for studs vs duds. Many programs have their hands full figuring out their own college programs, and are behind on '21 recruiting due to losing spring recruiting opportunities, so in general, the process for 22's is delayed a bit. Alot of coaches are hoping for another opportunity at least to see players play, particularly 22's. The dead period is not helping that out(no id camps), but otherwise it is early in the process for 22 official visits so it's not much of a handicap. While scholarship money may be reduced, teams will need new players so things are still happening. I suspect budget uncertainty is going to slow down the final phase of making offers for all but the top recruits.

If football is cancelled and basketball is cancelled again, many schools will be forced to end intercollegiate sports. Only Power 5 teams have the capacity to competed.
