Not all schools have need blind admissions. I also hated giving out so much data. The CSS is much worse.


I agree about giving out all the info. I guess we either have to get over that or say in-state only.

Not all schools have need blind admissions. I also hated giving out so much data. The CSS is much worse.

It is school specific and hard to figure out without calling sometimes. I asked at a forum that included several college FA officials whether not qualifying for need-based aid would render a student less likely to get a merit scholarship. They said no, fwiw. We did the FAFSA and my kid did end up getting merit awards from 2 schools.

We make just enough money that we won’t qualify for needs-based aid, but DS’ impressive stats might make him competitive for merit aid at some universities. Do we still need to fill out FAFSA for merit aid consideration?
