OP, you present it a certain way and it might be a bit different. Maybe Dad's there some. Dad wants to see his son. Son has some vacation time, not alot. Dad would love to have a night or two with family and son is generous enough with his time to say, yes. And Dad is paying. Probably Son and girlfriend are treated to a much nicer place than they could otherwise afford.

I think it's sad that you think this is weird. What does that say about how you view your husband?

This is OP. Son and girlfriend are around 21, and they’ve been together for a few months

My SO wanted to spend ‘quality time’ with his son, which I can totally understand. Not quite sure how that would work with the girlfriend in tow.

OP, did they ask you to come along? Or did you choose not to go. If it is COVID you fear, then there is also quarantine period when they return home. Either you have to be in a hotel or a part of the house that is totally closed out.

No. Why is that weird?

Not necessarily. Especially if dad has rented the whole place and son and GF have their own private space. If son is serious about GF, it's a way for dad to get to know her as they vacation together.

It also depends on if son/dad have a specific activity they enjoy together. Like they both like to windsurf (maybe as does the GF) so it's an activity they can all do together

Pandemic concerns aside, would you consider it odd for a man to go on vacation with his young adult son and son’s girlfriend? My SO is currently doing just that, they’re all spending a few days at an Airbnb that he (my SO) paid for.
