The problem with this is that you are comparing the US to the countries listed in the article. The flaw is that those countries did the hard work to get the virus contained. We didn't do that here.

Agree.
Also now companies are making employer based pod schools for their employees school aged children. Tutors to aid with virtual learning or straight up grade level teachers.
I don’t know many educated families willing to waste another bide your time, slow motion semester for their kids educations.

Australia also seems to be seeing transmission in schools.
Keep in mind that this study is only talking about primary schools with young children. I think an argument can be made for opening K-5 in person. Maybe even have them 5 days a week spread across all campuses, with small pods and no mingling.
But the data for middle school and high school don’t look good.

If we’d done everything the Nordic countries did to quell the virus, that study would be applicable here. But we didn’t.

And the (much larger) South Korean study says there is a risk. And in Israel, it's been similar with schools rushing to shut down again.

Here's the real point: no study has been done at the level of infection we are currently seeing in the United States. None. You can pull in this or that from any other country but the specifics of those countries make many of them irrelevant by comparison.

Great news! Will the kids be teaching themselves because teachers are still at risk. Many of them aren’t actually high risk or are the caregiver for someone that is high risk. I side with the Surgeon General, schools not not open until we have case numbers under control!
