If you don't mind me asking, if the family is more economically privileged than you are, do you have any feelings about that/does it affect your relationship with the family in a way that wouldn't happen if they weren't more economically privileged?

Are you a troll? Of course, the family is more ‘economically privileged’ than she is - she’s a nanny working around the clock for pathetic wages for a lawyer and a finance vulture. I don’t know about you, but that would certainly affect my relationship with the family.

Mid-30’s. College dropout (was studying English, History and Theatre at a small LAC and didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up 3 years into school so I took some time off to nanny. Over a decade later I am still doing it! I would love to be a mom some day, but I can’t see myself being a single mom and I am fat so probably not going to happen for me.

Your work schedule and lack of time/ability to socialize is likely making a catch 22 situation. You are heavier as you don't have a life. You don't have a life as you are heavier. I'd try to negotiate less hours and to have that afternoon nanny pick up the slack. Do they have a home gym and will they let you use it? Aren't they off for all the other federal holidays/why do they make you work? You sound like you need more time to work on yourself. They are lucky to have you.

Do you (or the weekend nanny) go along with the family on weekend outings?
My spouse grew up UMC in a developing country and has told me that was normal for his family with their multiple live-in nannies.

PP again. You're body is beautiful, no matter your size. And you give love all day to those children so you are in a wonderful karmic position to receive it for yourself!

Wow, your are there every waking hour. Are those children parented at all by their mother or father? Or are you essentially tasked with raising them to be good humans?

And please work on your self compassion and self care. Everyone is lovable without regard to body type.

Do you think you'll stay on as a house manager when the kids get older? What's you plan for the next 5 years?

You sound like a natural nanny! You just need the paper to really get ahead.

$20 base rate but more like $24 if you average out all the OT

3 weeks paid vacation of my choosing, 5 sick days, 5 national holidays, they buy all my gas since I drive their kids in my car. Currently they buy some of my groceries too since I do the grocery shopping and live in.

We have had other threads from nannies before but I posted my current daily routine in the Summer Activities thread and there were a lot of follow-up questions.

My current nanny family has 5yo twin boys. I have been with then since birth (hired in second trimester). I work 6:30am-8pm Monday-Friday, then 6:30-8:30 or 9:30 on weekend days. There is also an afternoon sitter who works 2-9 on weekends. One parent is a lawyer at a white shoe firm and the other in finance.
