Subject: Why doesn't Maryland enforce mask requirement?
Nothing about wearing masks on the back to business pledge:
Responsible business owners are encouraged to take the pledge to:
Create an environment that allows for physical distancing between individuals (6 feet is recommended) to the extent possible.
Ensure their place of business is routinely cleaned and encourage our employees to frequently wash their hands.
Provide flexibility to their employees, provide training and education and clearly communicate policies and procedures.
Reduce and disinfect as many ‘high touch surfaces’ as possible
Additionally follow guidance provided by the CDC, the Maryland Department of Health and their own industry.

Montgomery County is doing good with enforcing and the declining numbers show it. Other counties are doing nothing and their numbers are only going up. Unless Hogan enforces at the state level, things will only get worse overall.

Mask wearing is NOT listed as one of the precautions on the MD Covid page. You know where else it is not listed? On the much touted "Maryland Strong: Back to Business Pledge":

So where is the enforcement or even encouragement about wearing masks? Other than a few tweets by Hogan and those signs on the highway encouraging the use of a mask, I haven't seen much. To the original question: is Maryland doing anything to enforce mask wearing? Other states have mandated masks and stated fines for breaking the rules. Maybe Maryland has something similar but I haven't heard about it or seen anyone enforcing it. Seems like either weak leadership or poor messaging.
Well, I know they are sending out a COVID task force to inspect businesses to see if they are following the mandatory mask requirements. Giant Food was cited, and several restaurants were in the news recently for not following the mask requirement. It's clearly being taken seriously.
