Me too! But Rocky Neck State Park was the scene of some inexpensive camping/beach trips for us. It was fun to hear the Shoreline East train blow its horn every hour! We also liked Sound View because of Vecchitos.

I found Cape Cod to be windy and harsh surf. Not a fan.

Sound side beaches in NC are like this too. But great for kids learning how to swim!

This. I’ve got friends with beach houses there and none would say their beaches are great. They are on the sound. They go to them because they are close enough to nyc for a weekend trip. The cape can be 5+ hours.

I spent part of my childhood in Cali and a smaller portion on a tropical island so I am often unimpressed with any beach that is on the eastern side of the US. That said I think Rye, New York is a pretty good option. Stay away from New Jersey beaches though...they are cesspools.

+1. I grew up on the beach in Fairfield County. It's a nice beach for being commuting distance from NYC, but it's not a beach destination and is nothing compared to Cape Cod. My friends who still live there and have money still take real beach vacations on Nantucket. That said, having a local beach (and lovely town pool clubs with no wait lists) does make those towns much more pleasant to live in than Bethesda!!!

Take the ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson and a bus from there to Robert Moses State Park which has the premier beach in the Northeast.

You are so annoying. Get a free house and complain and moan about how they aren't up to your standards. You can't compare Connecticut beaches with NC beaches or Delaware beaches or New Jersey beaches. I'm sure someone from Hawaii wouldn't be impressed with your "beaches"
either.

Comparing CT beaches (Long Island Sound) to MA beaches (Atlantic Ocean) is like comparing a beach on the Chesapeake Bay to Ocean City. I grew up in coastal Connecticut. It has charm and can be a nice place to spend a day but isn’t really a ‘beach’ destination the way the Cape is. RI/MA ocean beaches are definitely rockier/weedier/colder than OBX but have a good vibe.

I grew up going to MD beaches and so I assumed in my teenage mind that all beaches were similar. Then I went to Maine when I was 18. I brought my towel, sunscreen, beach book, etc. Lol! The beach was covered in seaweed and rocks.

Well if you are in CT, I assume you are on Long Island sound, not the Atlantic. No, cape cod beaches on the Atlantic are not like that. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, OP.
