Seriously, OP, I get what you are saying, but how long have you lived in this country? Public education is disastrously underfunded. Even with health insurance that makes them unable to pay other bills, people wait months for specialists appointments needed to save their lives. And forget about mental health. And these were all shot to hell before a pandemic that has been actively mismanaged by our federal government (you don't vote Republican, right?)
Your DS being unable to legally drive himself for 2 weeks in September doesn't even come close to the radar of "things the government simply must do something about."
