It sounds like she’s trying to escape her life because she’s unhappy. You might get further approaching her with empathy and compassion than with demands and judgment.

OP Here: I can see her screen. It's always Facebook, Instagram, shopping sites, shipping apps, etc. Nothing important.

OP Here: Control? Yes. If control means she's not on a phone for 10 hours a day as a SAHM. Yes, If control means she only sleeps for 3-4 hours per night and is a bad mood all day due to her being on her phone all night.

I suspect most of the posters on DCUM are addicted to their iPhones. (raising my hand) What exactly do you want us to do about your problem?

She probably goes ballistic because she knows she has a problem but doesn’t want to admit it. Phones are such an easy escape and I agree they can absolutely be addictive. That’s too bad... maybe your DC will point it out to her one day and she’ll admit the issue and try to cut back.

She is a SAHM with our six year old. If she's not keeping her company she's on the iPhone. I've checked her screen time and it says 10 hours per day - literally. Everywhere she goes the first thing she does is play with the damn phone. When we visit our parents (mine and hers) she sits on the couch and stares at the phone. Worse off, she stays up all night instead of sleeping...then complains that she can't sleep. If she wakes up in the middle of the night within 3 seconds she's on her iPhone. The other night she slept 3 hours since she was itchy from something. I assumed she'd sleep well last night. Nope: 12:30am last night lights out she's in bed starring at her iPhone. I was woken up at 6am and looking over she's on her iPhone.

If I mention something she goes ballistic. It's a no win situation. Folks, don't get addicted to your phones. Yes, they are fun. I love my iPhone. But, hell...I don't touch that thing when I'm trying to sleep. Plus, it rots your brain.
