Depends on the character. What is it? Dr who related? Or is it an obscure character?
I wouldn’t care if he got it but make sure it is some placed that he can easily cover if he needs to look professional. Tattoos don’t care the same taboo they once did.

My husband had two tattoos when we met and got another one last year. He wants to eventually get a half sleeve covering the top half of his arm. I’m not really a fan but it’s not my body, not my choice. I give my opinion about it when he asks but otherwise keep my mouth shut, because ultimately it doesn’t really matter. The new tattoo is a cute design in honor of the nicknames for our children, so that’s nice at least.

I default to personal choice. Pain isn't long lasting and you can get touch ups. I think you can give your opinion, but not forbid or whatever. I prefer my husband has a full beard. He knows this. That doesn't mean he always has one.

If he goes to someone good and uses sunblock his tattoo will still look good in the future. Modern tattooing ages a lot better than tattoos from ages past.

Of a Sci Fi character? No. I would not approve. He's an adult and would not need my "consent," but I would think he was being an idiot and would tell him so,

A more meaningful tattoo? I would like approve. My husband is a Marine and has a tattoo specific to being a Marine.

I recently watched a video where someone showed people who had had tattoos for a really long time what they would look like if they didn’t have them (photoshopped images of the people without tattoos). Every one of the people got emotional, with even burly men crying. The regret was intense.

No, I wouldn’t encourage anyone in my family to get a tattoo. They are almost always juvenile and reek of bad decisions and future regret.

I'm in the whatever category. I have a couple of tattoos and I like them. But, I don't have any opinion as to whether anyone else should get one. If he's asking you, then he might not want one bad enough to actually go through with it.

Absolutely not, for my husband, and for your husband ... I'd seriously reconsider staying married to someone who wants such a DUMB tattoo. A sci-fi character?! I would be okay if it were something like the initials of some deceased relative he'd been extremely close to, or their birthdate, or our kids birthdates or something like that. I would not be happy, but I'd be a good sport about that. But a freaking CHARACTER? Hell no.

You can't control his life but I do have to wonder about maturity, especially if getting a science fiction character?! I'll admit to not being clear on the thought process that people typically go through to get a tattoo but I've always been puzzled by people using them as symbolism for something meaningful.

Husband wants a tattoo of a sci fi character. I am not sure where probably his arm. Would you let your husband get one? He does not need me to agree, but he is asking me. The only problem I can see is that he will complain a lot about the pain afterwards and that it will look faded after a few years.
