^^^ hahahahahahahaha ^^^

No.

I’d guess about $1,800

Bumper fascia ~ $500
Fender pop and body filler work ~ $50 materials + $650 labor hours
Repaint ~ $600 materials, consumables and labor hours

Because of the dent on the fender portion, I don’t think it was a pole or barrier. That would be more even. You are going to need your entire bumper and fender repainted. It’s not a $500 fix. You are lucky the lights are ok.

Wouldn’t the body shop be able to tell you if that was another car or a parking lot barrier/post? At least if it’s another car it might have happened when it was parked and your son might be telling you the truth that he had no knowledge of it.

This happened to me. Someone actually backed into it and left. Looks like an SUV hit yours.

I would think carefully about filing a claim. I did. Cost about $2,000 to fix and my deductible was $500. Three years later when I traded the car in, it turned up on Carfax as having been in an accident. Because of the claim. I lost a lot more than $2,000 in value on the trade in because of that ding.

Go to a body shop and get an estimate before going through insurance. It doesn’t look like more than $500 to me.

My DH has that kind of damage. He took a too tight turn into the garage and has the nerve to trash talk my driving .

To the OP, new drivers. Sigh.

I came out to my parked car with that same damage. Someone had swiped me. They left a note.

I had similar damage to my car on a rear corner, and it was from someone else backing out of a parking space and cutting it too close. They didn’t stop or leave a note. If your son backed into a space, or otherwise parked so someone could pull past, it is possible that his story is true.

That’s not a lot of damage, to be honest. A swipe against a pillar or parked car will do it (your car might have been the parked car). Take some money out of his allowance. If he needs to drive, he’ll still need the car.

And how about talking to him about leaving the scene of an accident.

I find it really hard to believe he’s go no knowledge of that. With cameras everywhere I suggest you have a serious talk about criminal consequences of not fessing up.

Was he parked anywhere? Someone could have hit him as they pulled into a spot if he’d backed in (unlikely) or he could have swiped a big garage support block/pole.

He was pulling into a spot and hit another car. That’s a lot of damage. Two panels. Dent. Will need new paint. At least $1500. Probably $2000.

So, my son took my car today.... he's been driving it for some time now (1 yr-ish) with no incidents. But today I came home to this. Damage to passenger side front end/bumper.

He did not even know it happened and claims no knowledge. Says he would have felt it had it happene on the road.

So tell me... does this look like damage that could have been done while in a parking spot by another car?
