I'd be more inclined for a boy than a girl, for sure, but it really depends on the individual kid.

This. I would not be very concerned about a kindergartner missing any crucial info during a pandemic year, unless there were extenuating circumstances that a pediatrician also felt warranted holding back.


I'm pretty worried about that actually. And taking care of her at home while working for an entire additional year vs trying to find a small good preschool to put her into (we're not in the DC area)

This. I would not be very concerned about a kindergartner missing any crucial info during a pandemic year, unless there were extenuating circumstances that a pediatrician also felt warranted holding back.

I have a June kid and I just don't know if it's wise to red shirt her when she's such a smart kid and is ready academically for kindergarten.

I have an August birthday boy who I sent on time six years years ago. If I was deciding this year, I probably would have waited solely due to Covid. This year I have a daughter who turned five in December and I feel like I can’t hold her back with that birthday. I am sending her to private kindergarten instead because I need the child care.

I have a rising kindergartner and I am honestly just thinking of opting entirely out of this year of school in hopes this will have sorted itself out to some semblance of normalcy or at least competency/control by next September. But I wouldn't be thinking this at all if it wasn't for COVID. What are people in this situation doing?
