The only way I would quarantine as a nanny the way YOU want is if you moved me into a 1 BD/1 BA guest house for a year rent-free and had my groceries delivered weekly with your own purchases while paying my full salary.

Otherwise f off.

You will not find someone that is self-isolating to the degree that you are. If you need the nanny to work, then keep her. Her kids are likely already socializing quite a bit. Personally I would give myself ~1 month prior to birth without childcare to ensure I wasn't COVID+ at the hospital so that I wouldn't get separated from my baby.

Her kids are teenagers and at home alone

You’re delusional if you think her teenagers have been home quarantining all summer.

I agree. OP you'll never find a hermit but you need to find someone you trust. Or just do it all yourself (good luck with that). Fortunately this area is doing really well.

Hi can’t guarantee you 100% she’s not quarantining now.

I wouldn’t, but I’m a SAHM. If I had to have childcare to keep my job I might feel differently.
I am five months pregnant & my family and I are taking quarantine very seriously. We have a nanny who we love that takes care of my son . She has two kids that are starting school in three weeks, so she will no longer be quarantining, as they will be going to school and being exposed to people and potentially Covid.

Do you think it’s safe to have her still come into our home and take care of my son? I’m so worried about catching Covid while pregnant and worried her kids won’t be quarantining anymore. Their school offers virtual learning, but she says her kids don’t want to do that & want to go in person. I feel bad and don’t know what to do.

Advice? Am I being paranoid and too overly cautious about Covid?
If the argument is that parents need the childcare perk of public school to be able to work, then this is a no-brainer unless you are willing to allow the nanny to take your child to her home to watch while she supervises her own children’s DL.

You should ask your ob/gyn this question instead of getting advice from people who potentially failed community college biology.

+1 I think we are all going to need to accept some level of exposure if we want to keep in-house help. Do you need a nanny or not? If no, then let her go. If you do need someone, it may be difficult to find someone willing to isolate to your desired level.

Sounds like you trust your current nanny. Devil you know and all that ...

Think about whether you are likely to end up dissolving this relationship at some point. If you are, do it sooner rather than later, to give both of you time to set plans in place for the Fall.
