Sure. I am capable of evaluating risk and I raised my child right and she knows what is appropriate and what is not.

My kids aren't allowed to use it because I don't want the Chinese government building a profile of them. My kids are doing fine without it, seem to have a lot of friends, and somehow have not suffered the terrible social consequences the tweens posting in this thread have promised.

I don’t think your logic makes sense. What I do think is that if a parent does or does not let their child use something like tic tick of course it’s their choice.

Personally I would let mine I’d just monitor.

...like sex and drugs. Please tell me a 12 year old posted this. Unfortunately, this sounds like the argument from someone with bad intentions (or just and extremely irresponsible parent).

TT is HILARIOUS. I would not let a kid younger than 15 use it. And I would want to follow it to make sure content was clean, but really a lot of it is just funny stuff, feats of strength, dances, home improvement.

Like most things kids can do, if you let them go at it with no supervision than they will be endangered but if you do it with them, talk to them, monitor them, then they can learn how to interact with something that is fun in a safe way.

I stopped following SM a long time ago, I agree, they are too dramatic but regardless of the article I will not let my child use TT. My child is missing out? Tough.
