Correct. Kindergarten is for all the other kids to play catch up.

From an academic standpoint, yes. But kindergarten can be important for social development for some children.

The 5 year old will be fine if his socializing comes in first grade. I promise.

WTF is your question? MYOB. There are a lot of reasons why families make the choices they do, and they are not obligated to share squat with nosy busybodies like you.

Her finances and her kids' development and any challenges are nobody's business but her and her family's. Not yours. And she likely didn't share everything with you.

Putting the younger child in private, in person makes sense. Personally, I think high school should be virtual

She doesn’t get to pick for her nearly adult stepson. Back off.

Makes sense to me. It doesn't appear to be a scenario where younger child gets private school because she's the person's bio kid, rather than step kid. The private school will be in-person and they believe the younger child needs in person school at their age, while the older child is more able to adapt to a distance learning situation because of their age. It seems age based, not bio vs step kid based.

Huh? What’s your question? I mean, there are all sorts of scenarios out there. You have no question and it’s not even your family. I’m lost.

1. Why are you starting a discussion on this families choice?

2. It makes complete sense to me that it’s possible for parents to need to make a different decision on what they do for a child in K vs a 10th grader.

My friend & her husband make decent money & work from home. She tells me that she enrolls DL for her rising kindergartener(she & her husband decision), and hybrid for her rising 10th grade stepson(his mom & her husband decision). She is worried about the social development for 1 year of DL for the little one, but they could not afford sending both kids to in person teaching at private school in the fall. She is also worried about the covid situation because of hybrid from her stepson from a big public school. So, it seems like that they can afford 1 kid private school tuition, but not both kids. It is difficult to be a step parent to try their best to play fair.
