I would say Bucknell, Lehigh, and Lafayette offer a more broad spectrum college experience with sports, greek life, etc, while Case Western, RPI, and Clarkson offer an equally solid education with an equally vibrant but more tech focused peer group.

Also look at Case Western, RPI and Clarkson.

Bucknell has a great engineering program. If she likes smaller schools, Lehigh and Lafayette also have solid ABET accredited programs with plenty of women.

It depends on what you mean. I highly doubt anyone is getting the cost under $35k on merit aid alone (which is the line between expensive and cheaper in my opinion). They do give FA but it’s not as generous as tippy top schools.

A relative attended the chemical engineering program and really liked it. They have a focus on encouraging female engineers. I don’t think you can mix apples and oranges with the engineering school versus the arts and sciences school. This relative went on to a PhD program at a very good engineering school and had many job offers after her PhD, fwiw.

They went test optional this year, so I’m guessing my kid’s friends didn’t submit their scores. One of them got a 960.

Colleges are grabbing any full pays who will pony up the cash this year.

DS applied and was accepted to Bucknell Engineering for electrical engineering two years ago but opted not to attend. We toured it though and he really liked the program. The engineering school is well regarded and highly ranked, and very collaborative. It does not appear to have a weed out culture like some other engineering programs.

More likely they got a higher ACT score and/or aren't studying engineering.

This is my last post but the kids all chatted about their scores and none of my kid’s classmates took the ACT. People keep trying to refute me. They’re premed.
