What kind of job?


I will be vague for obvious reasons but it involves working with youth. He wants to work in education so it is right up his alley.

My nephew is doing this. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life. He’s changed his mind several times in the past year on what he wanted to study. Instead of going in as undeclared, he wants to take a year, work, and see if he’s any clearer after some life experience.

He has been very lucky. Usually, his school rarely allows defers and students must go through extensive petition process. However, he's been speaking to an admissions counselor for the past few weeks and it looks like the school will be on his side.

That is a great idea. All things considered in today’s world. He may value school more after a year in the world of work and volunteering.

I would send him on a semester of Outward Bound, if he’s the kind of kid that would be a good fit. They offer college credit for their semester courses.
