That's not accurate. As a certified referee we were just provided with information that US Soccer has decided to allow states to determine when to start play and VA has decided to allow league play to start anytime they are ready.

I think these will be local decisions. And the inmates are already running the school board asylums around here. We can expect the worst. And of course nothing will be different a year from now and we will have to go back through the same exercise.

My bet is that they will have local teams play against each other, or mix up two teams in the same club close to the same level, break them into small groups, and just have them play one another.

Um, softball and baseball are a little bit different sports than soccer. Also, it's summer - there are multiple soccer tournaments during the beginning of flu season.

I'm hoping there is a way to safely hold soccer tourneys, but it isn't looking particularly likely. Even the normal fall baseball tournaments are likely to be cancelled, hence getting more of them in during August than normal.

They are definitely predicting. Here is the thing.........travel softball and baseball have both been playing tournaments for almost a month.I understand they are different games, but the point here is that there are tournaments going on across the state. While I think travel to events further away may be an issue, I would be shocked if local games and tournaments are not played in August. Of course on DCUM you are going to have plenty of people who want to cry wolf or post "clickbait" type titles to rile people up........

There will be no soccer that requires overnight stays out of town.
