I'm not sure of the boundary changes you refer to, but the Waples Mills area is in a bit of a grey zone area in that it is not obviously close to a particular high school to make the H.S. assignment obvious. That being said, it's pretty safely been an Oakton H.S. area and I don't see that changing, except maybe to Fairfax H.S. which is not likley in my opinion, but possible if you are closer to the Valley Road areas of the Waples Mills zone.

The eastern tip of the Oakton HS zone does mix a bit with Vienna based on proximity and youth sports, but I wouldn't consider Oakton and Vienna as the same, they are different schools and neighborhoods.

You might ask Jeff to move this to the VA school forum. May get more replies/visibility there.

How old is your child? I hadn't heard redistricting was coming soon but I imagine it will come eventually.
