Are you sure you aren't confusing it with the Park School in Brookline? There was a discrimination suit in 2017...
As another poster pointed out, private schools under no obligation to accommodate severe physical or learning disability if they don't feel they can meet the needs of the child.

Shady Hill seemed to fit the bill the best, possibly Park School in Brookline for K-8.
For high schools, we will likely look at Cambridge School of Weston, Milton Academy, Rivers, Concord, vs public depending on what kind of learner my kid ends up being.

PS Don't rule out SHS based on location. They offer several bus routes (pre-covid).

Milton Academy has a power school for elementary.
Inly in Scituate may work for elementary.

I am the OP--to the other parent looking, Birches in Lincoln looks interesting. Very small and new and quite progressive. Maybe too new for us, but tempting.

I don't know the story, but private schools do this all the time. If they can't meet the needs of the child, they shouldn't and don't accept them.

I'm not the OP, but we are also looking for a progressive private in the Boston suburbs. I'm not sure we want to commute to Cambridge.

I like SH but the community is VERY flashy, almost as if the parents and the school don't match.

I don’t know where you are looking in the area; there are lots of choices. We visited Concord Academy last year and were quite impressed.

Hi, it seems that the area private schools are either pretty intense and traditional or those billed as progressive seem like they are far less rigorous. Are there any progressive options that encourage deep thinking and hard work?
