This might sound crazy, but easier than renting a car and returning it, you could even take some plastic sheeting and if Uber drive doesn't have it up already, hold it up in front of you. 2.5 miles will go by in no time.
Or use one of those disposable hazmat suit things to cover family and baby and then toss them.
