My personal test was that a name had to work for a 5 year old, a 30 year old both in a boardroom and a ballet studio, and an old lady. Even better if the name has personal meaning, is easily spelled (as someone who has a name similar to Ashlee, I didn’t want my DD to go through life correcting spelling like I did), and isn’t so popular that there’s multiples in each classroom. Naming isn’t easy!
