Our school which is not in DC/VA/MD sent out an email stating that if school is held in person, masks will be required for any students over the age of 5 in order to comply with state directives. But then they added this:

“Additionally, please take the time to talk to your child about the medical and health related reasons that limit a classmate or campus adult’s ability to wear a mask” at the end of the paragraph begging parents to practice mask-wearing at home this summer.

I have no doubt that there will be students and teachers with legitimate reasons that prevent them from wearing a mask, and for that reason my kids will be wearing masks. But that sentence is also probably intended to give the school an excuse for the snowflake kids and their pushy parents. One school mom has already told me that her child won’t be practicing mandated distancing or wearing a mask at school because “Larlo really needs to feel free to move about in order to do his best learning.”

I am a teacher in NJ and our governor just announced today that teachers will be required to wear masks and that masks are strongly recommended for students. Parents getting doctors' notes was the first thing that popped into my mind when he said that.

How would you know? My sister has bad asthma and takes a steroid for it so I doubt you’d ever know because her breathing typically seems fine. The last time she got an infection she was in the hospital for weeks, had disabling after effects for a year—-the steroid makes her more vulnerable.
