But as my kids are getting older, I believe I will try to get one of the neighborhood high school girls to do it for $15.

Why do you care about the car? As long as the teen has their own ride to and from your house, how they get their is none of your business.

Are you saying fewer babysitters are going to more homes, possibly spreading COVID? No thanks.

We pay our babysitter $15/hour for essentially what you're describing. She's in her 20s and just does this as a side gig.

You are a teenager charging $25/hr to just sit on a couch for a few hours??

$15/hour is minimum wage in many places now. So I'd start there. I usually say $15/hour for being a great bbsitter, keeping kids alive and happy.

Then I give a list of additional chores that I'll pay extra for. E.g., unload and reload dishwasher: $5; put away all toys $10; sort laundry w the kids and fold $15; and so on. That way there's an increased chance I might come home with *less* work to do than more.

Believe me, there aren’t fewer opportunities.

Had a feeling.

We paid $15 an hour for one sleeping child but now both sitters raised it to $18 (covid pricing?)

I just moved to the area (Bethesda) and have a 2 year old. What's the going rate here for teenage babysitters for a date night set up, where my son would be in bed before they even come so they just need to hang out? I have absolutely no idea what the hourly rate would be, we didn't really have the opportunity to do this where we used to live, so just wanted to get a feel from a crowd before I get swindled on nextdoor. Thanks!
