DC needs to be punished, and that means electing people much farther to the left of Allen.
I vote for the most bat-guano crazy people on the primary ballot. I registered dem when I moved here (W3) just so I could try and elect the biggest lunatics on the ballot. Usually they don’t come close, but it’s fun knowing I’m incrementally pushing the entire fulcrum of local politics to the left, forcing even “ordinary” libs to run left of their comfort zone in order to keep their street cred.
I hate this city, can’t wait until my tour here is over and I can leave, and in the meantime I want to make it as miserable as I possibly can for the UMC white libs who live here.
Electing the odd republican here or there won’t fix anything, but why dilute the brand? Let the dems own this whole sh!tshow.

He supports decreasing funding for MPD, and a second chance act for violent criminals ( murder, rape) if they committed these crimes between 18 to 24 years of age. Apparently even at that age you don't know that murder or rape is bad, and deserve a second chance and a shortened prison sentence. These people should be locked up for good. People are being mugged at gun point constantly on Capitol Hill and he does absolutely nothing to initiate policy reform to prevent this.
He is up for re-election and we need a better voice for Ward 6 who actually will help decrease violent crime. DC has worked to have the city revitalized and it has worked well, but if this crime wave continues people will start to flock to the burbs even more than they have with the pandemic.
Is there a viable candidate who is planning to run against him? It's incredibly difficult to unseat incumbent DC Council members, and with the primary a little more than a year away, someone will need to step up to start raising money soon. If not, we're stuck with him.
And it has to be only one candidate. We can't have the opposition vote get split. That's how Nadeau won reelection and she shouldn't be anywhere near the city's government (hopefully someone steps up there, too).

The judge would look a their time in prison, and give their sentence a '2nd look"". I'm not sure where the Council is with this. So I'm not surprised he would also like to defund the police. What did he propose to fund so that crimes can be mitigated in the neighborhoods most at risk--paddy wagons? Social worker teams? Involuntary commitment? What is putting in place instead?

Now who does he call?
