GPS was in trouble before the pandemic.

Yes, and note that this was a for-profit club as well, unlike Loudoun and virtually all other clubs in our area.

Which doesn’t change the fact that enrollments are likely down big, which impacts their ability to stay afloat

For sure, but not having to answer to profit-focused overlords (plus the absense of lawsuits for human rights violations) gives you more time.

GPS offices were raided by law enforcement. They were telling coaches vi email how to falsify documents to get visas

When you keep all the money you generally don't go bankrupt, but you are still morally bankrupt as a club.

I have a sense enrollments for the fall are taking a hit.

You’re onto something. If I had to guess based on the recent spamming of their social media pages I would say they lost a considerable amount of players.

On the boys side they’re needing: 2012 (U9), 2011 (U10), 2010 (U11), 2008 (U13)
2009 (U12), 2007 (U14) and 2005 (U16)

On the girls side less apparent need but still a bit in shambles:
2010 (U11), 2008 (U13), 2007 (U14)
2005 (U16)

Expect to see “supplemental tryouts” ads until mid-August

Ooh. I look forward to reading more about this on the talking-soccer Massachusetts forum. There have been lots of scandals with GPS leadership through the years.

Surprised people think Loudoun will go bankrupt. They have the most capital in Northern Virginia.

Of bankruptcy? Doll I thought they made a nice come-up with both the Spring robbery and the PPP funds despite being a non-profit org...

Can’t help but feel like we could see a lot of this. Especially if clubs can’t operate in the fall.
