In broad terms, areas where houses are on bigger lots tend to be more conservative = Fairfax Station, Great Falls, the Langley-zoned areas in McLean, Oakton.

Yes, neighborhoods surrounding Ft Belvoir like Springfield and Mt Vernon too. Most of my more conservative coworkers live out in Loudoun and Mannassas.

Obviously, most of northern Virginia near DC is progressive, but I'm wondering which neighborhoods are known to be conservative or to be politically mixed? My impression is that Arlington and Alexandria are quite Blue as is most of Fairfax but there are some areas in Fairfax that are more mixed... What are other people's impressions?
