I would go with a teacher from Levine. They are very experienced, teach theory, offer competitions, and after the pandemic is over, your child can go to their Strathmore location, which is really nice.
Thirding this. They are doing virtual lessons now, but would still try to match you with a teacher at their MD location so you can stick with them long term.

Our kids take lessons through Chanson, which I highly recommend. They seem to enjoy the virtual lessons even more than the in-person ones—nice way to break up they day plus there has been no push back about practicing which they now do daily.

My son has been playing for 3 years. He's won a small contest for not practicing much so I think he can do even better if he practices! I am hoping to find a teacher who would inspire him to practice more (me alone is not enough).
It would be preferable if we can continue with the teacher after the pandemic is over so a teacher who is located near us - Rockville/Potomac/Gaithersburg area would be great!

How long did your son play piano before stopping? How good is he? I think with more established students, as opposed to newbies who need more instruction on how to hold hands and place fingers, video is fine.

My daughter is 6 and takes virtual piano lessons. Her teacher is not taking new students right now. However, I can speak to the experience. Overall, it's been good; however, I think it's due in part to the fact that my daughter was taking lessons before the pandemic began, and made a transition to virtual lessons with the same teacher. I'm not sure how effective virtual lessons might be for a student starting from scratch, or taking up lessons again.
