OP here. It is really helpful to know that your first appointment is over the phone and ultrasound is at week 8. This is actually a spontaneous pregnancy, so not sure if GW Fertility will want to do the early ultrasounds like they'd usually do if I was in a treatment cycle. 8 weeks is still early I know I know, but coming with repeat pregnancy loss history and from fertility treatment, the thought of not being able to confirm viability earlier is really freaking me out.

GW OBs are currently allowing one visitor at each appointment (no kids) - everyone wears masks and is temp checked walking into the building.

I am also very early and with GW (not midwives). I have a call scheduled with a nurse at the start of week 7 and an ultrasound scheduled at the start of week 8 along with an in-person appointment. I was told that my spouse is welcome at both ultrasound and in-person with the Dr and all of us will wear masks. I do have a history of miscarriage, so I don't know if that impacts their willingness to allow my spouse to join, but when I asked the scheduler she sounded vaguely surprised that I thought they might not let him join me.

Current WHC midwives patient who is getting regular monitoring at WHC Perinatal--WHC Perinatal just opened up to partners last Friday, so your spouse could come to ultrasounds. Perinatal Monitoring (if you have to have NSTs) is not open to partners yet.

Current GW midwives also, I had my first appointment via telehealth at around 6 weeks and I’ve regularly been in touch with my midwife for any question I have. I had a phone consult with the geneticist the week before going for the 12 week ultrasound. I went at 12 weeks for the ultrasound, labs, and visit with the midwives, all with my husband. Most people were with their partners too (penn ave office). Next appointment is at 16 weeks for the AFP and then anatomy scan and consult at 20 weeks.

Current GW midwives patient. I thought that we were supposed to attend prenatal appointments alone but they must have relaxed that/ make exceptions because literally every time I go (Bethesda office) I see couples going in together. I would call and ask to confirm.

No spouses at the WHC Perinatal center. Very, very few in-person appts with the WHC midwives. They do try to get in as many screenings as possible though in your in-person appts. For instance, my 28 week appt is in person and they will be doing the glucose screening in-office, and I'll be getting my rhogam shot. My first appt was before everything shut down, so can't comment on protocols there.

Can anyone speak to recent experiences with early pregnancy (first appointment through anatomy scan, say) at either location? Specifically related to changes in protocols and general experiences because of COVID. We've had bad news on ultrasounds before, so the thought of not having DH there is really hard.
