PP again. I went on an official tour last year with my daughter and I was disappointed that the official tour guide mispronounced the name of one of the buildings (Clio Hall).

I'm a Princeton grad. There is no fence around campus. Don't expect or even ask to park on campus, as this has always been very limited. Just park in town and bring quarters. I think that it's a lovely campus to visit. There are a few ugly dorms that are not shown on any tour, so you might as well see those, too. I don't think that Virtual tours do justice to any campus. I would make sure that you bring a campus map. When I attended in the 90's, there were no public maps on campus and no signs pointing to the university. It added to the mystery. If you love walking, I recommend walking around the Grad College and the Institute for Advanced Study as well. It took me a long time to realize that very few places have a Gothic quad covered with Japanese Wisteria reserved just for grad students.
Gosh, it seems to me that grad students living in the area could make a mint doing private tours right now.

The virtual tour is pretty much about the same as the actual tour. You really won't gain a lot more walking around in person.

This page leads me to believe you can walk around the campus, maintaining social distancing, but that buildings remain closed to the general public.

It would not be easy to prevent people from walking around. Even if certain gates were closed, there would be other access points.

My daughter is at Cornell and I was under the impression campus was off limits. I went to help her move at the end of May and you could walk through the entire campus. She said it was never closed off. It really was sweet as many seniors wore caps and gowns and took photos all over campus. Mask were worn (not in pictures) and social distancing was more or less followed.

I do not know if campus is closed but it’s a cohesive campus and would be easy to block off so you can’t walk through. There aren’t public roads running through. I bet it’s closed based on other schools I know being closed.

You could walk around the cute town.

It’s an incredibly beautiful place. Probably the most attractive campus i have visited.

Both of my kids campuses (not Princeton) say the whole campus is closed to visitors. We picked up belongings a few weeks ago and the entrances were coned off with security sitting at several. I would call before traveling a distance.

I would imagine you could walk around, but I don’t know how much you’d get out of it if the buildings are closed.
