Our daycare is reopening but we are planning to wait a while to send our kids back as well. See how things go and re-evaluate in a few months. I don’t expect to be called back to the office for a while although DH may soon. It will be hard but doable.

Just a small clarification that while daycares are no longer required to be epcc, many of the same regulations are still in affect the only real change is that they upped the numbers to 15.

Also at an MCCA center. Considering they won't be able to take as many kids due to the capacity restrictions and inability to open any of the centers located in schools, it will make it easier for them if not everyone returns. Not sure how they'll figure it out should demand exceeds supply, but I suspect that initially that won't be a problem. I know of a couple families who switched to a nanny already, and others with older kids who just plan to muddle through the preK year at home.


Yup. We may send our child in September depending on how things are. Right now we are still stuck at home and just don’t see the need to send DC back, as much as we miss her teachers and she misses her friends. I’ll wait to see how things pan out and then we may have to go nanny route.

ETA I'm not sure what we will do yet, provided ours is one that will reopen.

People keep reading that reopening roadmap document too literally. It's a general guide for reopening plans, but clearly we have not been following it exactly, nor will we start now. You should absolutely expect additional, gradual loosening of restictions. I'd expect lifting class size limitations to be on the table as part of of that, but who knows when/if that will happen. But I wouldn't assume we're going to be stuck at 15 until there's a vaccine.

Yes, although I think MSDE still has a form you need to fill out before you can reopen.

I have read the link, and I am confused. So, all MoCo private daycare center can be opened in phase 2, and restricted to 15/room (14 kids + 1 teacher or 13 kids +2 teacher) capacity?
