I have permanently prolapsed internal hems. after 3 big babies and a retroverted uterus that pushed on my rectum. I think the nerve endings are shot down there bc theres no pain, just pressure when they flare. The pain during pregnancy flareups were like being shivved with glass shards. Its very embarrassing doing pelvic exams and seeing a provider keep a strsight face and pretend its not gross.

My advice: dont wipe after a bm. Rinse in the shower. Hottest water you can stand. Drink a ton of water. Lay on your side with a witch hazel soaked cottonelle or baby wipe folded between your bum cheeks. Pop 4 ibuprofen to take the edge off. And surf something mindless on your phone if you can. There are studies done on pain management and staring mindlessly at screens!

Start taking colace every day. Use a bidet or spray bottle after going to the bathroom to make sure you’re clean. Take a bath every day. Get lidocaine cream from your doctor if they’re external and the pain is really bad.

I brought this home from the hospital after my first baby and was crushed when I asked my DH to get more when he came back from the drugstore saying I needed a prescription.

*hemorrhoids during labor and it ended up being the most painful part of the entire postpartum experience. Nothing worked except for taking Norco, which I realize is a terrible reason for taking it, but it got me through the first two weeks of hemorrhoid hell. I‘m sorry, OP!

Good advice above.

Dermablast. The same stuff they use to numb you after vaginal delivery.

You can get a suppository medicine from doc that will help shrink from the inside-out.

Also, though it sounds gross and counter-intuitive, "Knead" the hemmeroid. Sort of push/pulse on it a few times every time you go to the bathroom. This moves the blood along so that you don't get a thrombosed hemmeroid (I've had it, it was horrible).

Keep witch hazel in the fridge, soak a cotton pad with it and tuck it up in there for some relief.

Get tucks! You'll use them post partum if you have a vaginal delivery. They're great to have on hand. I also have the applicator tip but it's just hydrocortisone. Impressively, it works but it depends on whether your hemeroidds are internal or external.

My DH suffers from hemorrhoids. His doctor prescribed him Proctofoam which seems to help.

My doc prescribed something that was in an individual use tube with a little ‘applicator tip’. So totally gross, but worked so well! It had some sort of instant numbing property.

Also you need to blast yourself with fiber to keep thing soft to avoid exacerbating the issue

Get stool softener, start adding, flavorless fiber powder to everything and change your diet ASAP

Oh, you have my deepest sympathy! I had them with both pregnancies!

Ask your doctor! I had avoided the conversation because I didn’t think there was anything she could do but then mentioned it in passing. She prescribed me some cream that worked wonders. She asked why I hadn’t mentioned it earlier and said “that’s what I’m here for, we can help with things like that!”.

I will fully admit though that while the cream helped, giving birth was the only thing that solved the problem.

Sitz baths -- soak in hot water. There have also been other threads on this topic -- so maybe check them out for possible suggestions.

35 weeks and starting yesterday I have definitely developed hemorrhoids and it's very possibly the worst pain I have ever experienced. This is my third kid-never had it before.

Other than preparation h and tucks is there anything else? It's excruciating.
