I have 2-month-old twins who won’t nap. No stroller naps outside on hot days and I can’t do mall stroller maid because of COVID. They won’t sleep in the car. So. Much. Crying.

I am wishing it away too but that doesn’t mean I won’t fully enjoy my child. I generally am not a fan of summer and this summer will be especially bad.

It’s okay. Covid has messed us up bad. Go easy on yourself.

Don’t worry, the Groundhog Day effect will simultaneously make days fly by but each one seem endless. How the heck did it get to be June?

OP here. So that’s the thing: we LOVE winter. My boys and I hate the heat. By 10am they’re complaining, and my youngest get overheated very easily. It makes going outside difficult, even with water play. We love the cold. Summers are hard for us, and now with no pools or museums to escape the heat, we will be inside

Which is fine, because we were outside while everyone was inside in the winter. We were so thankful for the long, chilly spring.

Do not apologize for your emotions. I've had a lot of therapy (prophylactic and otherwise), and the number one thing my therapist tells me is to not "double wound" myself. If you have an emotion, don't critique yourself for having the emotion or wish it away. It's there, and that's ok.

It's ok to feel like this. We're all mourning parts of our previous lives.

And it's completely valid to feel sad about opportunities you're missing WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY recognizing that you generally are fortunate. Emotions are complicated.

Please ignore the one major invalidating post. I honestly think people blow off steam by posting such content, which is a bit sad, but they probably don't know any better.

Tough crowd OP. I know the feeling also a stay at home. Part of it is the mindset. I hate the heat so I much prefer fall. But if so avoid the Internet, I am able to enjoy things more .

I caught myself saying “I just hope it [summer] goes by fast.” I hate myself for saying that, as my boys are age 3 and 4 and beyond precious. I’m a stay at home mom and our lives are stable and fine.

Yet, it’s hard to ignore that this summer will not be great. I’m not looking for advice on HOW to make summer great. We do all the things and own all the things.

I just hate wishing time away.
