Score keeping like this will doom the relationship. It doesn’t sound like your are mature enough for an adult relationship.

Maybe at the extreme this is true (I texted you 16 times last week but you only responded to 12 of them!), but if you're the texting the person significantly more than they're texting back, or if they never text you and only reply, there's a message in their silence. Either you're doing too much or they don't care to hear from you at all.

I feel like it should be/feel roughly equal, otherwise someone's going to start feeling bad about things and maybe overthinking. That said, some people like text more than others do. Some see it as an alternative to face-to-face connection and some as a quick way to exchange necessary information. You may have to accept it if your partner is different from you in that way.

OP..I’ve been there. Analyzing what each thing/text means. If you ever question someone’s intentions it usually means it’s not a healthy relationship.

Be secure in who you are and what you enjoy doing and you’ll attract those who like you for you.

I’ve been where you are, it’s not fun, the wondering. I’ve found since I’ve adopted this laissez-faire attitude it’s easier to let things go at their own pace. Sure, it’s hard. I’ve been more into guys then they were to into me. I just saw to myself that I was my genuine self and they didn’t like that....I want someone who likes me, for who I am. Not the person I was trying to be.

Walk away from the phone OP. Put on some music. Relax.

What? Text when you need to communicate something, don't when you don't. If you start counting, you will drive yourself crazy and guarantee ending the relationship. Be yourself, and know that your true self is either a match for the other person or not. Let it play out.
