+1

Totally agree +1 here too. Every coach from u9 all the way thru u17 will get to know you child by name and work to help them improve.

Another vote for PAC here as well. A lot of their kids are from Arlington so its a good chance your son might know some.

This is OP. Thank you. I'll get more proactive about this.

It does not sound a good team if a team still has openings at this time.

As opposed to development at Arlington? Really? I suspect you are on of these parents who thinks selectivity is directly proportional to quality, probably because you don't know what else to evaluate when looking at travel soccer. Plenty of clubs and teams are likely to have roster spots at this time. But I can tell you that the impossibility of getting on a team at Arlington at this time would not tell the OP anything about their ability to develop young players.

Like ADP, it’s a money grab.

Almost everyone is working even from home..esp the ppl you need to talk to. Email them. Yes they are forming teams right now. And do a private coach. My ds turned into a coach potatoe these last few months and didn't even want to go outside. He restarted training recently and after knocking the dust of is getting back to normal.

Email them, they have the POC for each age group to see if there’s a spot and what to do to get on spot. Offers were out weeks ago and for the most times, top travel teams are likely full. You can also check ADP to see if they have spot as well. They haven’t sent out offer.

He has not been on a team, but pre-mid-March had been taking workshops and classes with Arlington Soccer, ST J classes, etc. A few coaches recommended he join a team, because they found him "good". The plan had been to try out in May. Now, of course, the official tryouts have been cancelled. Players his age are directed to complete an interest form online, which we did weeks ago and never heard back from anyone. Should I try to email his age group coach? Are they even working? Are they overwhelmed? Are they waiting for Phase 2 to start reaching out to kids to schedule informal tryouts?

Another concern is I feel he has lost some skill over the past few months... Is that true for all players? What can we do to prepare? Watch videos, practice?

Please tell me how to get my son on travel or ADP team for the fall - he loves soccer and has potential according to some former coaches. I know nothing about it and it is hard to find people to learn from during this time... Thank you!

aside from truly special talented kids, yes everybody has lost a step or touch. just hit up arlington and tell them you want to play. most important thing at these age, is to play and it doesn't matter what level of team they're too young. find out first if he loves the game.

You need to find a one on one trainer for him. You can use the coach up ap to find one. Many times the trainers in coach up are actual team coaches. Classes are great but just a piece of the puzzle. Also breathe-your son will be placed on a team. There are many.
