I’m not normally an anxious person but maybe it’s claustrophobia. I have to make myself slow down my breathing in a mask. I don’t know how students will be able to see my mouth when teaching letter sounds.

Thank you for this! I have been commenting on how uncomfortable I find masks for an extended period of time and can't imagine teaching in one all day. I will go and buy some face shields instead.

Face shields are a way more workable option for staff. I tried mine on today. It's like wearing glasses or a hat. And you can breathe!

What’s the problem? Anyone educated knows that masks help. Why wouldn’t kids wear them?

Teachers should also have the option of wearing a face shield instead of a mask. Better visibility and less adjustment needed.

Most teachers, notwithstanding sensory or breathing issues (the later of which shouldn't be teaching in person anyway). Even many older high schoolers. But children? No. They don't have the maturity or coordination or understanding to do it right, and even if they should, many will not.

The best plans are ones that can be carried out. Many or most children will not wear masks properly, or in some cases, at all. If you are truly trying to solve this problem, you will design a plan that recognizes human behavior for what it is.

Teachers can, in theory, wear and remove masks properly. It will be much more difficult for students. I'm sure students will be allowed to wear them but it won't be mandatory.

Not an expert, but as a teacher, we can’t make them. There will also be at least a couple kids who refuse to comply. Masks will become the new cell phone issue.
