I personally dislike her bc she’s been completely worthless on every type of traffic/pedestrian safety issue. She doesn’t walk, bike or take transit herself so she’s happy to let the 40% of us without a car be terrorized by rampaging MD drivers every day

City services, including DCRA & the police, have declined under her watch. I don’t care if she’s left/center/right - but I care if crime rates are spiking & housing inspections are slow.

I wish Boswer would rename the 1600 block of Penn Ave. "George Floyd St." Just so the WH had to change its stationary.

Ward 4 is fairly moderate but voted out mini-Bowser by 12%. There are a lot of good and reasonable ideas coming from the left.

What makes you say Ward 4 is moderate? Whether idea from the left are good or bad, they are ideas from the left, not center-left or center.

I live here and talk to people here. We aren't a bunch of far left anarchists.

Jack and Jill is headquartered in Ward 4. There is a large Modern Orthodox population. There is a large Caribbean disapora retiree population. Chevy Chase + 16 Street Heights. These are fairly moderate folks. I am left-of-center, have lived here for 12 years, and it is pretty middle of the road - for the DC area. People's Republic of Takoma Park it isn't.

Painting that big BLM mural on the street while continuing to think stop-and-frisk is a good idea is Peak Bowser: she's all about grand gestures that are basically meaningless.

Look at Vision Zero, which she unveiled with a big press conference and then basically forgot about until a few weeks ago when she lowered the speed limit (another grand, meaningless gesture, as there's zero chance the lower speed limit will be enforced).

Look at the plan to build homeless shelters in each ward. She squandered the chance for any sort of goodwill by initially handing out contracts that were almost absurdly beneficial for her major developer donors. The Council had to rein her in:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/homeless-shelter-plan-could-be-profitable-for-bowsers-backers/2016/03/16/cbab0e76-eadc-11e5-b0fd-073d5930a7b7_story.html

With Todd and Evans gone from the Council, she basically has zero support left there. Todd's loss, particularly, is a bad sign for Bowser's hopes of another term. People are sick of her. She'll get a minor bump from standing up to Trump but when this all dies down it'll be back to normal.

She was my ward councilperson for years - and I never voted for her b/c she did zero for the ward. Just wanted to get her name on everything - but very little accomplished (much like Fenty and Todd). She basically owes her election to Douglass Development - which which buys up and leaves vacant buildings all over Ward 4 (often not paying tax). Her springtime "listening tour" to Paris; her winter "listening tour" to Cuba - her inexplicable purchase of a million-dollar home on the Gold Coast after her modest home in Riggs Park - is not a good look. So, she loves to be on camera - and she loves to give speeches, but she has not done much about poverty, affordable housing, public education, etc., etc. She slimed Vincent Gray (who was actually a committed public servant), but her hands are not clean, either.

OP here. Do you have news articles about this you can share so I can learn more?

She's all talk, no action. It's her MO.

Painting BLM on the street (ok, cool) while increasing police budgets, continuing stop and frisk, not releasing body cam footage, etc.

I'm amazed by the anti-Bowser sentiments on these boards. I'm basically indifferent toward her but obviously some people have strong feelings against her. Why is that? I thought she's done a pretty good job with the current protests and managing the last few years (healthy budgets, no major scandals, etc).
