Dry sense of humor.

We have 4 kids, and each time I was pregnant at least a handful of people commented, “Again?!?!” The variations of that sentiment were hilarious! Since they’re all boys, there were lots of comments along the lines of, “They won’t stop until they have a basketball team!” But my favorite comment came during a military/veterans conference when someone announced to the room the that I was building my own platoon.

I came up with a number of quips. One of my favorites was, “I know, right? I blame my husband for this.”

When I arrived at the OB for my first appointment with my 4th (who arrived on the heels of my 3rd), the OB quipped, “You’re back? Your last pregnancy wasn’t stressful enough for the both of us? Before you leave, remind me to give you a prescription for John...for separate bedrooms.” He of course was kidding.

I’m pregnant for the first time and my FIL hasn’t said a word about it lol. I think he was in the room when we FaceTimed my husbands family but as far as I know, he has yet to even acknowledge it. He is very reserved and this isn’t out of character for him, but like really? You’d think he could muster even a disinterested congratulations. I think sometimes old dudes are in their own world and baby stuff doesn’t register. Unless you’re pretty close to him, I wouldn’t read into it.

I'd give him a pass. This is a very stressful time for many people. Maybe the idea of adding complexity to life caught him off guard and you didn't get the perfect gush of excitement you wanted. So be it.

Just told my dad I was having #3. He said “great. But this has to be the last one” It is. But buzz kill (and dude you had 5 kids - which of us would you give up??) thanks dad!

Time speeds up as you get older. 3 years for you is like 3 months for an old person.

My dad reacted that way both times we told my parents I was expecting...he basically had no emotions just kind of sat there and blandly said “well ok then” didn’t ask follow up questions. My mom was excited though. My dads just kind of not a very enthusiastic person in general and he’s a worrier so his mind naturally always goes to the possible downsides or complications in any situation. Still, it hurt my feelings and changed my opinion of my dad at least for awhile (it doesn’t bother me anymore now my kids are older but I still think it was a weird/inappropriate response). He loves his grandkids though.

Nope we are very lucky and very thankful and stable. We don't rely on our parents or in laws for a anything.

OP, do you complain that you don't have enough money? Is your household stressed? Do you complain about stress? Do you take money from the ILs? Do they pay for anything?

My husband’s boss said that when we were pregnant with our second and a 5 year age gap. People are dumb.

Sorry! People are just really judgy sometimes. We had a lot of grief for having kids two years apart. They felt bad for my oldest because she was still a baby. You can’t win.

So I'm pregnant! I was so excited to tell my in laws! After I said I'm pregnant my FIL says...."Again?" Straight face, no emotions no congratulations. My MIL face lit up and told us congratulations. It's our 2nd child plus a girl! I have a 3 year old son.....Is it a guy thing? Or was he being an a**. When I was pregnant with my son he was very excited.
