I started at CFA and it took about a month to get in.

When I decided to switch to SGF, it only took a couple weeks.

I know a lot of people have feelings about Shady Grove but I've been with them almost two years and have nothing but wonderful things to say about their staff and my medical team..I couldn't handle the disorganization at CFA.

At 34, OP could go either way. I was 36 and it was suggested to skip OBGYN and just go for the specialist to save time. My insurance covered it the same so I just went RE.

Same here. I was able to get an initial appointment at CFA within a couple of weeks, but it takes time for testing prior to your first cycle. I would make an appointment now - things will pick up once everyone starts to get back to normal.

I've also been to Shady Grove and I liked CFA so much more. CFA is willing to tailor a plan to you. SG is more of a factory and they're resistant to change protocol, eligibility, etc. I saw Dr. Abbasi and she is fantastic. Heard good things about Dr. Sacks too.

I think we had to wait for about three weeks for an appointment at CFA. Had our first appointment at the beginning of June, and our egg retrieval was done by mid-August. Of course, we had already done most of the diagnostic testing at a different clinic - so things moved pretty quickly.

If you call a large practice you’ll be able to get in quickly unless you want a specific doctor who is busy.

Wait, isn’t that the whole point of shared risk? Our contract said we could withdraw or they could terminate us and we would get our money back.

I had an appointment within like two weeks of calling I think (Shady Grove), but 1) they might be a bit overwhelmed right now, as they were basically closed for a few months cause of covid. Now that they've reopened, there might be a bit of a backlog of people and 2) you want to get in ASAP for your consult because then the testing has to be at very specific points in your cycle. If you want to start things right at the one year mark, and not miss any time, you gotta move forward now.

I will say that I got pregnant naturally between the consult and the testing. Hoping for the same for you

Start calling now because the testing is time-sensitive and can take a month or two. Shady Grove is great and likely can get you in pretty quickly. Good luck!

I am 34 and have been TTC #2 for the last 10 months without success. Should I start calling around now for an appointment or wait another couple months?
