As a previous poster stated having the kids play in the backyard while we sit and chat with my parents is nice. We did a sprinkler and water guns the other day. My mom always loves putting stuff together so she did some science experiment to make a lava lamp with oil, water and alka seltzer. Trying to convince her to do a science lesson a week. She enjoys putting it together and loves the kids reaction.

cornhole? grandparents have their own set of bean bags and target, kids have theirs.

Tic-tac-toe or similar type game with sidewalk chalk, each have their own chalk to use.

Another idea is to just let kids olay in sprinkler in grandparents back yard. Not playing with them but my parents always like to see the kids just having fun.

We've decided it is ok for the grandparents (who are great at socially distancing) to provide snacks for our kids (although we wouldn't share food the other direction), and that has helped our kids enjoy the distance visits more.

Soccer as long as no-one picks up the ball? Or something else involving kicking a ball? The grandparent could kick it (and never pick up) and the kid could get it?

I have a five and 10-year-old who really miss their grandparents. They’re getting sick of just going over and chitchatting from 6 feet away. Trying to think of games they can play from a distance. We’ve already done charades and dance parties. Would foursquare or something along those lines be safe? Thanks for any novel ideas that would help them engage and have fun and focus less on their sadness of not being able to hug them.
