I’m in MoCo. I thought the directive was groups of 10 but you must socially distance in that group (e.g., no contact / 6 ft distance between non related participants). Is that the rule?

Or is it groups of 10 hanging out “normally”?

Not sure we’ll necessarily socialize with people outside our family “normally” yet but would love to know the parameters.

Like all the others stupid far-left/libs/dem ideas, and considering whats going on the directive is meaningless

So yes, you can, but still be careful about what you know about the health of the people with whom you gather, and still practice social distancing habits with them.

This. As someone put it on Twitter: "Lifting the orders doesn't mean the pandemic is over. It means they have room for you in the ICU.

But yes, it means those things are permitted.

Yes, this!

Scientist here.

The larger your circle is, the more exposure you have, and it's not a linear progression but a geometric one.

Each additional non-household contact increases exposure by a lot, because one contact doesn't actually represent one person: one contact represents all of their recent contacts as well.

Think of it in terms of STDs. If everyone has unprotected sex, you're not just sleeping with that person, you're potentially sleeping with all the persons this person has slept with recently.

What is legal is not always what's advisable.

We live in NoVa where this was never banned. We have socialized with 1 other family of 4 and I’ve done walks with my DD and other mom-daughter pairs. We have only done any of this outside. No one has been in our house (or us into theirs) since mid-March.

I think the 10 person limit has more to do with contact tracing than the inherent danger of say 12-15 people.

But aren’t you still supposed to socially distance if not in the same family?

If your kids are too young to know to stay 6 feet apart, then I'd avoid playdates.

Does it matter to Covid though? You don't want your friends to get sick do you?

We've started to do this, outside.

That's what we're planning. We've been completely socially isolated this whole time, just walks outside where we stay 6 ft away from all people, and trips to the grocery store, that's it.

Once we move to phase 1, we'll get together with one other family at a time, no more than once a week, at least to start.
