Like if the invitation said “John and Jane have what they need from baby 1 but have put together a list of books for baby 2” or whatever, idk. Not a big registry though.

Ok, the point about the office party is true. We just had an office "shower" for someone's third. But it's a small workplace. And most of my coworkers are older, so the baby was a novelty. And the gifts were baby books. And we just wanted to have office cake, really.

All baby showers are tacky.

Yes. But why do you care what I think? What do your friends/family/prospective invitees think? They're the ones that you're asking to buy gifts for yourself.

Yes. But feel free to set up a registry because I always send my friends gifts for second babies. Would like to get you something you want & need, rather than something you have to return.

Under most circumstances, yes.

There are exceptions.

What is the situation here, OP?

Not in my culture (Indian) because it’s seen as more of a religious thing and a celebration with loved ones rather than a gift grab.

Yes, unless you are a Kardashian. Kim K had 4, but maybe she paid for them.

YES, especially during a freaking global pandemic.

People are canceling or postponing their weddings.

People are not even having funerals and memorial services at the moment.

And you're over here expecting a SECOND baby shower?!

Wow.

Like for a second baby? In the time of covid where it would have to be a virtual shower? But you’re still asking for gifts? Yes.

Yes, unless your first child is 6 or older.
