At the end of the day he is an actor, writer and director. This was something to help him get through quarantine that took off. Were people expecting him to do this forever? I would be shocked if any of his celebrity friends (in a town where you have to sell your soul to make it) would care that he sold SGN. They were probably the ones telling him to sell if he could.

This. And whatever form it takes, I believe the show will do good in the world.

Really enjoyed the YouTube show and loved how genuine it seemed, and was baffled to hear yesterday about the sale. I've only seen the brief official statement he made about it. Any other coverage or interviews yet where he explains his thinking more? Because...a LOT of people around the country and in other countries sent him videos or created their own versions based on its goofy goodness. It would be a huge disservice to those people if there isn't a massively good reason--beyond money--to sell the concept. Kind of wishing we'd hear that all the money is going to a charity or something. But I fear that won't be the case. He did raise millions for some charity through the show and did some lovely things for individuals. But I'm just whiplashed by the difference in tone between a homemade YouTube bit and a show on CBS.

I'm also not sure what there is to sell, as a concept, because many news programs have been doing "good news" segments on air for ages before this pandemic.

He did such a great job with this appealing "good news only" show that he launched on youtube with limited technology and amateurish antics from his house. It really did make people feel GOOD during a pandemic.

And now, in a deal for an undisclosed amount, he has sold the show to VIACOM CBS. Hilariously, the show will now be professionally produced and will NOT feature John Krasinski as the host.

Wow. They just don't get it!

Good for Krasinski for turning a great idea and concept into some cash. But haven't these executives ever seen Wayne's World?!?! The appeal of the show is two dudes in a basement--not corporate sponsorship and professional production.
