Same reason why Alexandria, SYA, Loudoun, Herndon, and Arlington are in it, because it works for some. Parents chasing, not players.

Not for boys. Ecnl has the same problem as ccl. Clubs play clubs regardless of whether the first teams are of comparable quality. It is preposterous and driven purely by convenience for coaches. It is a device to insulate weaker teams from competition while allowing lesser teams and inferior players to claim elite status even when they are far short of it. Leagues like that mean absolutely nothing even when outstanding teams participate, as we can see in example after example in this area for boys ecnl.

CCL was relevant when there was a need for a regional mid tier league. Over the past few years though, CCL became irrelevant due to DA / ECNL war and other local leagues live NCSL, WAGS, and NPL (part of US club soccer) retained various good clubs and options. Now with ECNL, R-ECNL (re-name / re-frame of NPL), GA CCL will die. They are attempting to expand down south in NC / GA region but they can't compete with the volume of teams in the other nationally built leagues with a pyramid and a national championship etc. Why play in a regional league that forces you to drive to Roanoke or Williamsburg for a "competitive match"....

I think this model is going out of fashion. Top teams don't want to play cupcake teams that are placed in ccl1. Ncsl is better in this regard with promotion and relegation, if you're not as good of a team, that's fine just playing a lower division with even competition. No one likes to get blown out either

They were having problems on the girls side. I heard the u12 was the same. Also all the CCL girls side was having similar problems. Just wait a little while. Someone will post that say it did not happen.

CCL2 was a joke for U11 girls last year. The spring season being cancelled only cost us 4 games. One in March, one in April and 2 in May after most tryouts.

What is CCL going to do next season with all these different lopsided "A" teams and "B" teams? It seems like there are much stronger teams relative to the competition that will get "stuck" in CCL or CCL 2 playing all weaker teams, and vice versa. Some clubs may not be able to field teams.
